The probe took the image hours before completing its 53rd close flyby of Jupiter at the end of July, managing to capture both celestial bodies. Scientist Alain Mirón Velázquez processed the image.
Io, one of Jupiter’s moons, is characterized by its highly active volcanic surface, with hundreds of volcanoes regularly erupting.
Set to the music of Vangelis, this view shows our Juno spacecraft soar past Jupiter and the volcanic moon Io from the "starship captain" point of view.
On July 30, Juno will make its closest flyby yet of Io, coming within 13,700 mi (22,000 km). Follow @NASASolarSystem for updates. pic.twitter.com/qhSulqDJ40
